the decay of REFUGE FOR LEADERS AND Prati di Tivo This is the answer to an e-mail to a customer dissatisfied with the Guide Hut!
My father in 1975, with some members decided to leave the shelter with adventure guides who, when he was asked to rent to the municipality of Pietracamela, was nothing but a pile of rocks.
The work of cleaning the building is huge and members of my father, seeing the bad habit, soon decided to "give it to him" for little effort and for the few expectations of success of that adventure.
Obviously the father's stubbornness gave way and it would be a success and things started to go very well. The refuge had become the nodal center for mountaineers of the Gran Sasso and had as a reference Pasquale Iannetti as operator of the Franchetti refuge and guides.
You must also know this thing for the picture showing you complete! Pietracamela is inhabited by people very uncomfortable, the famous "Pretaroli.
I Pretaroli, since tourism has set foot on the Gran Sasso of Teramo, have always put a spoke in the wheel who saw a little farther than their nose.
I just think that in Prati di Tivo over the mountains, the Parogna, and the Amorocchi Trentini (4 families the more "modern") no family was able to exploit those infinite resources a wonderful as the Gran Sasso mountain has to offer. Only 5 or 6 brave people tried to live with the mountains, all the others were up more than once on the summit of Corno Grande (overstate).
This serves as a premise to say that the dear Pretaroli have always wanted the opposite of what was right, necessary and useful for their land.
But when they began to see that the people of Romagna and Teramo like my father began to make a lots of "Schei" on their mountains have not been able to do is destroy, destroy and destroy ...
Have you ever wondered Prati di Tivo because there is no longer a campsite? Why the City of Pietracamela strange stories for 90 years decided to close the camp and also decided to send three families on the street.
know what they said in the bars of Pietracamela when they closed the camp? "... Now that the camp was liberated by foreigners will see how things will change, you'll see when we take him to us ...".
Camping Yarkum For the record is closed, abandoned and dilapidated from 1990 and you know what generated this? A Prati di Tivo began to decrease the number of inflows of about 60 percent and you know why? Why all those that were in tents, with the caravans and camper did turn a lot of money to the Meadows, only after it was boring!
but come to us! My father since 1966, when he started working at the Gran Sasso has always attached importance to promoting tourism, improving services, in the battles against the inactivity of the town and has always been only so many blows.
In 1992 the nice town council decided to issue order for immediate closure and coercive against Refuge Guides, reason: the business conducts restaurant lacks a regular commercial llicenza.
the Carabinieri arrived armed with the force that drove us and without us even have time to collect clothes and personal belongings, put the seals at all entrances and they sent us down the street.
After 7 years, the court ruled illegal the order of closure. Reason: the refuge of the Guides, acknowledged as a modern alpine resort should not be regarded as a traditional business it does not need a commercial license!
You know what it meant to my father and his family? Go to rags, many debts to pay, two more unemployed and many other sad consequences that I'm not here to tell you.
In 2000 my father and I have decided to reopen the shelter, still 5 years with the seals , refrigerators were the mice, mold everywhere, smashed pipes, sadness and desolation. We have worked hard and if the municipality wanted to reach an agreement we would not have gotten this far!
A few months ago we had the sad news that further the cause for damages we have lost.
I think this is justice?
At this point you'll wonder why we are still ahead, why do people stay in that "slum ". You know that you say? I do not know!
And finally know what our only regret. After having thrown a life of Gran Sasso to make a better place, after 40 years of suffering from my father and my mother's 30 today from Prati di Tivo just do not get another kick in the ass!!
So thank you for reading my endless complaining but I really hope that this winter a beautiful snowfall take him away so this ugly nightmare finally ends and I can go for a walk on the Gran Sasso without mentioning any of this.
Thanks
Eugenio
